New Year’s Resolutions: Review

Remember those New Year’s Resolutions from the start of the year? Well, let’s have a look and see how it all went, shall we?

I will read my Bible every day

I managed this sometimes, but not nearly enough. It’s easy enough for a week at a time, but I struggle to maintain the discipline of doing it every day and refusing to let other things get in the way.

I will vote for [deleted - secret ballot and all that] in the General Election

Yes, I did, and I can reveal…I didn’t vote Lib Dem. Quelle surprise. If you don’t know my opinion of Lib Dems, you’ve clearly never met me.

I will learn a new language

Well, I’ve done a little Norwegian. I’m not fluent, but I can read some things. Need to keep it going and spend more time on it if I’m actually going to remember any of it! I’m also spending a bit more time on German now.

I will read at least 20 books

Fail. I have, however, started reading George W Bush’s autobiography. I’ve also started James Allen’s 2010 F1 review. I’m sure there are others, but they’re the main ones. This one was rather ambitious.

I will post on my website more

This tailed off somewhat as the year went on. I’ll try and rectify this next year.

I will set a personal best in a 10k race

Didn’t have any time to even enter a race! Therefore, this is sadly a fail, although it was eminently achievable.

I will try out a new sport

Tried out American Football. Sadly didn’t have enough time to spare though. I have done a lot more cycling, however, and I’d really like to try Skeleton. Anyone able to help me with this madcap idea?

I will pass my driving test

FAIL. I’ve nearly booked a lesson though…nearly.

I will explore new territory on my racing bike

Done.

I will be as witty, dark and cutting as ever

Of course…whether you like it or not is up to you, though.
